Just Add Blazer

I love how a structured blazer instantly adds chic to an otherwise simple outfit.  The strong shoulders and the nipped in waist can highlight your beautiful shape and be appropriate for work.  A black blazer is a must in every closet and a colorful one adds pop when you're looking for one.  Add some intricate gold jewelry and you're ready for whatever the day may hold.

A Touch of Paris

{Top: Zara (similar); Skirt: H&M (similar); Shoes: Sergio Ross; Beret}

A couple of years ago, my mom and I went on an amazing French adventure from Paris to the South of France - exploring, eating, drinking lots of wine, gorging on croissants and mille-fueilles, and, of course, studying that certain je ne sais quoi French women embody.  I couldn't help but come back inspired by the beauty I found on every corner.  This look is my ode to that trip.

The Color Purple

{Trench: Zara}
I'm not usually a fan of booties that go above my ankle because I feel like they shorten my legs.  But these animal print ones were too good looking to pass up and can add such pizzazz to an outfit.  They easily stand in the place of basic black pumps - they're unexpected but also neutral.  It's been a lot of fun working them into my wardrobe.  I also can testify that they didn't kill my feet after a long and very fun night out in San Francisco.

Sunshiny Day

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

{Denim jacket: American Eagle; Shirt: J.Crew (similar);
Skirt: Kate Spade (similar); Heels: Zara}

I can feel that Spring is around the corner.  We keep getting glimpses of warm sunshiny days, but they don't seem to last much longer than a weekend.  In between the days of leggings and boots are days filled with bare legs and colorblocked heels.  Such is the condition of living in LA.  Whether it's warm or cool, layering is key and I love throwing this stretchy denim jacket over an office look to make it more casual chic.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Just Basics

{Jacket: D&G; Jeans: AG; Scarf: Scoop (similar);
Shoes: B Brian Atwood (similar)}

Sometimes all I need is a good tailored jacket and a colorful scarf to make me feel put together.  I've had this D&G jacket for many years now, and, every time I put it on, I am still amazed by the impeccability of the tailoring.  Some pieces are definitely worth the higher price tag because you know that not only will it be a mainstay but also a long-lasting part of your wardrobe.  It's just a matter of determining what you will use most.

What are your mainstays?
