Pretty Printed Dress

Friday, May 31, 2013

{Dress: Prada; Necklace: Madewell; Heels: Tania Spinelli}

Happy Friday!

It seems silly, but don't you feel giddy when you score a fantastic piece for your closet?  On my way back from Coachella this year, I stopped at the Prada store at the Cabazon outlets just outside of Palm Springs.  If you were driving through the area and had time for only one store, this is the store I would recommend you stop in if you were looking to buy a stand out piece for your wardrobe.  Whether it's a bag, a wallet, a great pair of shoes or a pretty printed dress, I love indulging in this one stop for that perfect find.

Where is your go to store where you know you'll find something you may not need but definitely want to have?

Festive Bicycles

{Dress: Anthropologie (similar); Heels: Zara (similar);
Necklace: thrifted (similar)}

Fun, flirty, colorful, easy, playful, feminine and perfect for a warm SoCal day.  There's nothing better than a dress that with just a few accessories becomes a complete look for a picnic, wine-tasting, brunch, a day at a museum or a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.  I particularly love the silhouette of this dress - strapless, full skirt and cinched waist - and if I could it's all I would fill my closet with.

Reimagine Basics

Thursday, May 23, 2013

{Top: Madewell; Skirt: L'Ecole des Femmes; Necklace: J.Crew (similar);
Heels: Miu Miu}

Sometimes the best thing to do is to go back to basics - black pencil skirt, nude heels and a statement necklace mixed in with your everyday chambray shirt and you've got a put-together and unstuffy look for work and happy hour.  And, of course, don't forget to add a pop of color with a bright lipstick.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my corner of the world wide web!

This skirt is my no fail, pair with anything, work, luncheon or anytime piece of clothing.  We all need that piece in our closet that we can rely on when nothing seems to be coming together.  What's yours?

A Crop & a Stripe

Friday, May 17, 2013

{Blazer: Zara; Top: Topshop; Skirt: Anthropologie; Shoes: Tania Spinelli; Necklace: J.Crew (similar)}

I love the allure of a crop top and how a little bit of skin can balance out a full skirt.  I think it's going to be my go-to look for the summer.  I was inspired to buy this white blazer after seeing Rita of Coast With Me in this look, but wasn't sure how I would incorporate it into my wardrobe.  This outfit was a good place to start.  I wore it on Mother's Day, but knew that it needed a little bit of structure to make it appropriate for dinner and the blazer added just that.  I plan on throwing it over jeans and dresses before it becomes too hot to even think about wearing a jacket.

Happy Friday and hope everyone has a great weekend!

Pink Peplum & Brocade

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

{Jacket: Peter Som; Blouse: J.Crew (similar); Skirt: Alice & Olivia
(similar); Shoes: Vera Wang (similar);
Bag: Reed Krakoff

I found that the best way to show off the beauty of this brocade fabric is to set it against a bold color, as I did with the matching skirt here.  The pattern of the jacket is subtle enough that it pairs beautifully with this peplum skirt and makes it appropriate for work.  Bubble gum pink may not be ideal for the office, but the neutrality of the grey softens the edge of an otherwise very bright color.

Yellow Brocade

Friday, May 10, 2013

{Dress: Lulu's; Belt: H&M; Necklace: Banana Republic;
Heels: Vera Wang}

On those days when I can't seem to pull a look together, I like to reach for a dress that with the right accessories is chic and fun for work and play.  This dress is the perfect combination of playful and conservative because of the print and the cut and the texture makes it seem a lot more luxe than what its price would indicate.  I would love to build a wardrobe just filled with "perfect" dresses - it would make getting dressed in the mornings that much simpler.

Happy Friday and I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Grey Days

Tuesday, May 7, 2013

{Blouse: Zimmerman (similar); Skirt: Theory (similar);
 Shoes: J.Crew (similar); Bag: Louis Vuitton}

I don't usually like monochromatic looks, but this one works for me because of the pops of pink from my lipstick and these fabulous shoes.  This is my way of making officewear not so serious and a lot more fun.

Hope everyone is having a great week!
